A small collection of works focused closely on Banks Peninsula, spanning the nineteenth century to the present day.

A small collection of works focused closely on Banks Peninsula, spanning the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Two colonial artists  are represented with several works each:

  • W. M. N. Watkins (1835-1904)
  • S. C. Farr (1827-1918).

Other artists include:

  • Thomas Cane (1830-1905)
  • Robert Herdman-Smith (1872-1947)
  • Charles Meryon (1821-1868)
  • R. A. Gill (1838-1907).

The collection also includes original nautical sketches by Akaroa’s favourite son, Frank Worsley (1872-1943).
